Pappayude Swantham Appoos, an all time hit

Even after years, this father and son still remains in the hearts of people in Kerala. Pappayude Swantham Appoos portrays the heart touching relationship between a father and son. It’s been more than twenty five years that this movie released in Kerala theaters and became an all time blockbuster hit. Movie’s star row includes Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Badusha, Seena Dadi, Shobana.


Pappayude Swantham Appoos is one of the best Malayalam movie, written and directed by the Fazil. Through this 146 minute duration family drama, he added another success story to his hit list. Director Fazil is always an expert in exploring the simple story and presenting it an excellent way, so that the people will take them with them. He is famous for his family based emotional stories.

Mammoootty played the role of the Balachandran and Badusha as his son Appu. Suresh Gopi played as Dr. Gopan who treats Appu, Shobana as his mother Bhama and Seena Dadi as Meenakshi, the care taker. Sankaradi, T P  Madhavan, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Raveendran, Fahadh Faasil and Santhakumari  played other prominet roles in the movie.


Classic evergreen hit songs in this movie are by IlayaRaja and Anandakuttan handled camera.All songs in this movie were written by Bichu Thirumala. Enn Poove Pon Poove, Kaaka Poocha Kokkara,  Manju Paiyyum Ravil, Olathumpathu, Sneghathin Poonchola were the hit songs. This 1992 released movie hit theaters during Onam season and tailored the best success story of the year.

Interesting facts about the movie

There are some interesting facts that we should know. Initially actor Murali casted for the role of Dr, Gopan. Later Suresh Gopi replace Murali as Murali because of date clash. Also Pappayude Swantham Appos was the debut movie as a child artist of actor Fahadh Faasil.  He appeared during party sequence along with some other kids and also he appeared in a song Kaaka Poocha Kokkara.

In 1997, the remake in Telugu is released and is titled as Priyaregalu. Baby Badusha won 1992 Kerala State Award for Best Child artist.
